Special Post
This is a special post 'cos it's not related to anything that happened in the past few days. In fact, it happened 11 years ago.
I'm reading my kindergarten report cards now. It's sooo funny, but I'll only concentrate on my K2 report. You see, there's a whole list of assessment areas in the report, "Social and Emotional Development", "Cognitive Development" and "Physical Development", followed by assessments in "English Language", "Chinese Language", "Number" (Math) and "Interest Areas".
ANYWAY, for each area there are a few items, and for each item you either get a "Very Good", "Good" or "Pass". The majority of mine were "Very Good", especially for the "Number" part (my favourite subject...back then!) - so it makes those items graded "Good" and "Pass" very interesting.
Okay, here's what I got only a "Good" in:
1. Ability to make decisions / take initiative (I bet my teacher was in cahoots with my mother about this...)
2. Ability to concentrate (!!!)
3. English Language: Ability to tell stories (?!)
And want to guess which area I got the most "Good"s in?
Yes, CHINESE LANGUAGE!!! I got a "Good" for my:
1. Ability to understand (hahahahaha)
2. Oral vocabulary/expression (*laughs even louder*)
3. Recognition of words (*falls off chair*)
Plus the only "Pass" grade in my whole report was also from Chinese Language: "Ability to tell stories".
Man, I must've told some really stupid stories back then!!!
...Except I don't remember telling any. Maybe that's why I got that grade in the first place...
Haha. Okay, I'll stop being lame. Just thought this was entertaining.

Doesn't it just annoy you to no end when you're trying to get some much-needed sleep...and the whole world decides to start interrupting you.
Okay, not the whole world, but far too many people than usual anyway. It's like nobody bothers to SMS or call the whole day (and practically the whole week), and suddenly, in the space of 2 hours, they just have to contact me.
Firstly I was awakened by Sam's SMS. Normally I don't get awakened by my message tone, but I was just falling asleep so it was very unfortunate. Also more unfortunate what was actually in her message...but never mind. *sniffnocartelbreakfastsniff*
Secondly there was my father's call from somewhere deep in Changi Airport. As with all phone conversations carried out while I am still in a semi-conscious state, I don't remember much of what he said. And trying to remember gives me a headache.
Last but not least!!! Hmm...a weird number from somewhere in Changi! Thinking that it might possibly be my father's office number, I decide to pick it up anyway.
Nope. Big mistake. It's someone from the SP Community Service & Cultural Club, calling to confirm on what day I will turn up for my briefing. Gah.
*sudden bad thought* How if my whole group/team/whatever speaks Chinese?!?!
*shudder*
Okay, erm...about today. Supposed to write about this first actually. I didn't really want to go out today, but I had to post my letter and buy salsa, so too bad. I detoured to the MRT station, and guess what I found out? Not all MRT stations have post boxes. *bangs head on wall*
So I had to take the more expensive way to Orchard. Well, actually I stopped at Somerset, because I know for sure there's a post box outside the station. When I got out...I didn't see anything!!! And then I realised they had moved the box under the shade.
Well, I suppose they had to, considering it's made of metal and it was a super hot day today. But that's not the point. I paused at the post box briefly, then inserted the stupid letter and went hurriedly away.
My first stop was Cold Storage in Takashimaya. You'd think finding a bottle of salsa would be easy, but I went up and down each possible aisle thrice. Was it in the spices sections? The potato chip section? The pasta segment? The canned food section? The sauce section?
The sauce sections obviously made sense, but there were two sauce sections and I didn't see anything. So just when I was ready to go stomping down each aisle screaming for salsa, I decided to give a thorough look at the pasta section with all its tomato sauces. And I finally found that sneaky little bottle on the opposite shelf. Well, it makes sense that I couldn't find it, since there were only two brands of salsa on display!
I paid for it and went about walking around as usual. Stopped by Kinokuniya to, as usual, check for my book. No stock. Then I walked to Borders where I was just looking carelessly around for the same book (not having any hope, since it hasn't been restocked for months and months)...and suddenly I saw two on the shelf.
Argh!! And I wasn't supposed to spend anymore money! But I decided if I didn't get it now, it would be out of stock soon and I'd regret it again, so I paid the $23+ for it. My last book, I told myself firmly, as I paid and waited for my receipt.
Then the cashier hands me a receipt, behind which is another slip of receipt-paper, informing me...that from 3rd to 20th May, I can present this receipt to the cashier and get 20% off my next purchase!!!
ARGH!!! *bangs head on wall again*

I have been in a very very very very very very very very bad mood the past few days.
But bet you couldn't tell.
Anyway, during that past few days I very sensibly (hey, I'm capable of being sensible even when I'm angry/depressed) decided not to blog. Because if I did, then you'd be reading a lot of *grumble* here and *grumble* there, $%^& this and $%^& that.
So now I'm back. Not that I'm in any better a mood, but I have other things to talk about that can distract me.
Firstly, I'm nearing the end of FE. 3 or 4 chapters before the FINAL CHAPTER. I'd love to continue tonight, but the battery just died a few hours ago.
Secondly, I stayed up the past two nights to watch more Champions League. Although I was really more concerned with eating than with watching AC Milan vs. PSV Eindhoven. Did you know tortilla chips and cold salsa are super calming? And since Chelsea didn't score last night (mwahahaha), all the tortilla chips went in my mouth instead of at the TV screen. And speaking of salsa, I'd like to know just why they have the word "HOT" printed all round the jar cap...when it isn't even that hot.
Thirdly, what's taking Transitlink so freaking long to get my record? Or rather, what's taking SP so freaking long to send my record? Like, at least let me apply for the stupid Tertiary Student Card, for goodness' sake, you can take your own sweet time to issue it...grr!!!
Lastly, I nearly had a heart attack when I realised what date it was today. So that's where procrastination gets you. I had to hurry like crazy to think up my third answer. That means I can send it off tomorrow. I hope it reaches by Saturday, or Monday at latest.
Yawn. How come hardly anyone comes online these days??? Avoiding me, right, all of you??? Hmmph.
Anyway I'm out of things to say so I better post this now. It's so ARGH to think that a month from now, I'll be just a weekend away from starting school.
Someone kill me before then.

I have a headache now. Which does not explain why I am trying to make it worse by double-clicking on Fullstop's nickname...
Oh yes, the powerful Jessica Yeo. One smilie and his com crashes. Or at least I hope that's what happened, 'cos if he just ignored me then I'm going to send a thousand smilies the next time until his com really crashes.
ANYWAY, I wanted to go out early today, but 1) I didn't wake up early. Like who wakes up early after sleeping at 7 a.m. and 2) My mother had to leave after lunch so I was delegated with the task of waiting for the newspaper man to arrive, and 3) He was supposed to arrive latest by 2 p.m., but by 4.15 p.m. I gave up and left instead.
No one ever said I had much patience. And if you're wondering why the hell did I sleep at 7, I have no idea either. I don't recall playing Fire Emblem that long. But just when Farina was 68% of a hit away from beating the boss, the boss with an 8% critical chance...criticalled. That left me pretty agitated, so yeah, I guess that's why it took me so long to sleep.
I completed that chapter whilst waiting for the newspaper guy, though, this time being more cautious and just using Eliwood. Oh, and I finally found out what Supports actually do. I thought it was just for entertainment value, mostly, but apparently it just made my game easier. Like for example, in the next chapter Florina died early on, so I decided to be evil and send everyone on suicide missions - since I had to restart that chapter anyway. I managed to get right to end (although Sain went Berserk and killed Rebecca and Priscilla - thus showing exactly how strong he is), gaining Canas and Bartre's last Support on the way. Then I moved up to the boss and found out how much damage Canas' Luna attack would do; it was okay but I decided I needed backup. So I placed Barte right behind Canas, and the next thing I knew, Canas' expected damage had increased - and he criticalled. Like wow. So fun.
Okay, sorry for digressing. Where was I? Going out, right? Yes, so it took me slightly over half an hour to get to my destination. And I got my belt!! So now there's only one item left on my list-of-things-to-buy-before-school-starts (which excludes Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones). And since it's not an important item, that's one load off my shoulders. Thank goodness.
Now...the application form...and applying for my tertiary EZ-link card...and typing that stupid thing up...and finishing Hector's Mode in FE...and...gah!
*gets up and debates what she should do first*
I think...I'll go eat an ice cream. Haha.

Something very sad happened today. I was having lunch at L'Emozione and for some reason was trying to reassure myself, "I am a very good girl. A very sweet and kind and nice and good girl."
...and about half a second later I choked on my linguine and started spluttering about!
Hmmph. *folds arms and looks miffed*
Well, other than that, pretty much nothing interesting happened. Like what interesting thing is going to happen on a Sunday in Orchard anyway.
But that's not the point. My application form is like collecting dust on my desk. I have no idea how to fill the stupid thing in. *sigh* Lack of inspiration. And last night, when I was supposed to type something out on the com, I ended up talking nonsense to Sam on MSN whilst watching her stare blankly at her com screen while she did her Chem e-learning. Or else she was sticking random things in front of her webcam, like that purple ant with the freaky big eyes.
I got off at past 3 a.m. having not accomplished anything significant except to talk a lot of nonsense to both YQ and Sam (who insisted, for some reason, on spewing weird French phrases - like "Dog of Pyrenees Mountain") until I got irritated and called her a poulet and cochon. Which is a chicken and a pig, respectively. Oh, and I also found out that WH is delusional. But I bet you knew that already. Haha.
Anyway, after finally switching off the com, I went to finish my last book. I don't even know why I bought it. It's the saddest, most depressing and disturbing thing I've ever read. And it's not only the ending; it's the whole book. But it's a good book, of course, since it managed to sustain the depressed mood throughout. Now I'm depressed. *sniff*
It's the 25th of April! That means there's soccer tomorrow! Yay!!! Finally something to watch on TV.
Gah. Need to go off now. I think I shall continue with Fire Emblem again later. Or work on my application form. No, I think I'll play Fire Emblem. :P

It's 2 a.m. I'm sitting here puzzling over answers to some questions.
1) Why did you choose to pursue the diploma of your choice? Erm, okay. See, I always wanted to be a journalist since I was a little girl (liar), and in Sec 3 when I was debating my future, I received the SP prospectus and I thought it was a divine message (liar - at least the divine message part). I flipped it open and saw the course description for Media & Communication, and immediately I knew I just had to get in to the course.
(Which explains why it wasn't your first choice, Jessica?)
Crap. Must think of another answer. At least one that won't screw me up if they check my JAE selections...
2) How do you intend to contribute to society upon graduation? I haven't even started the course and you're talking about graduation?! Oh, okay...haha...sorry...I mean, society has done a lot for me (but I don't recall anything it has done for me) so I fully intend on giving back to society. Therefore I plan on becoming a journalist and...erm...
Double crap. Like how on earth do journalists contribute to society anyway. Probably by not becoming journalists in the first place.
3) (moves away from the above crappy questions and returns to more pressing issues) How am I going to get to the nearest MRT station to top up my ez-link card, if its current value is something in the vicinity of -$0.44??? *Sniff* I don't even know how much adult bus fares cost.
4) (stares at piece of paper found in Fire Emblem guidebook. Half of it contains strategies for the game...the other half contains A Math workings) You mean I used to be able to solve gibberish like that?!!!

Back again.
The rain didn't exactly stop, but it was less heavy than before. I caught my bus, then connected to the Dover-bound train. (It is approximately 2 mins between every stop, so I figured I can actually reach SP in 20 min. Not bad when you think I used to take 20 min to reach SHSS too, and SHSS was soooooooo much nearer back then.)
ANYWAY, I got off at the nice MRT station, and it immediately hit me like déjà vu: September 2003 - meeting WQ with Cheryl before the main entrance...asking the guard for directions...walking down the slope and down the stairs...making the loooooong journey to the Concourse near the School Of Chemical & Life Sciences. Heck, I even passed the exact table we sat at when Mr Wong treated us at McDonald's before the quiz.
Only difference was that I wasn't meant to enter the foodcourt. I had to detour round to find the concourse entrance. All this while holding my open umbrella, and trying to keep track of the file containing all my documents. The file that I've never used before. The file that states plainly on the cover: ST. HILDA'S PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN'S DAY 1999
Needless to say, I did not have enough time to get another file. So anyway, I climbed the stairs and followed the arrows that led to this REALLY BIG hall, which was unclearly separated into different stations. I managed the first station all right, then the girl told me to proceed to the station behind and for some reason I assumed it was the station behind me (for people who didn't do pre-enrolment, which I most certainly did) instead of the station behind her.
That cleared up, I entered this part of the hall where there were clearly two stations. The queue numbers were different from the one I had at the first station so I had no idea what to do. I sat down at one of the chairs and pretended to be neatly arranging my documents. Then I looked up and realised there was this guy standing by a queue number-printer in the middle of the two stations. I got up and self-consciously went to get the number. Went back to my seat. Guy came along a few seconds later and asked if I had gone to the station in front of me already. I said no. He said I had to go there first before taking the queue number from the other station. I looked ahead and realised there was a queue number-printer at this station, standing all alone in a corner so I had missed it. Even more self-consciously returned the darned queue number and went to take a new one.
After a short wait, I got called to the station, booth no. 2. There were two girls on either side of me. I heard the lady attending the girl on the right puzzling something about her documents for Media & Comm. Ooh, a course mate! Then the lady attending the girl on the left also mentioned something about the girl being admitted to DMC. Ooh, another course mate! I was pretty surprised actually, despite already knowing today's registration was mainly for School Of Business students. I mean, DMC has by far the least number of students in that school.
But whatever. Turns out you only need ONE copy of your birth certificate, and you don't even need to bring the original copies of your 'O' Level results and birth cert. There was a short delay because of some confusion from my pre-enrolment data, then I was asked to FINALLY get a queue number from the other station. Went up to the guy and took the number without looking at him. *embarrassed*
That queue was even shorter. I sat down to try and arrange my documents, but before doing so I looked up, and my number was flashing already. Got up grudgingly (since I still had my documents spilling out of my hands) and went to take my picture for my SP student pass. Then I waited patiently while the high-tech printer issued my card. The girl handed it to me; it was still pretty hot, having just been printed. Can't say I really like the picture but who on earth cares.
Proceeded to the next station, where I handed the guy there my online payment printout, and promptly was given my plastic cardholder and red lanyard.
Let's digress momentarily. One of the obvious signs that today's enrolment was mostly for Business students was the availability of the lanyards - because Business lanyards are red (with "Singapore Polytechnic" running down the material in yellow), and I only saw red ones on the table. Life Sciences are yellow. Engineering is black. I think IT's also red but we'll leave that to Edwin to confirm! And Design is...PURPLE!!! ARGH!!! I want to quit Business and join Design!!!!
Haha. Back to the main point.
So I'm, like, yay! Everything's done! Time to go h --
And then I was made to proceed to Level 2 or 3 of the building. I entered this room that had an automated powerpoint presentation playing. It was telling us what ways we could use to store our projects, namely flash drives, CD-RWs and Yahoo! Mail (which was pretty pointless 'cos I've had my account for 7 years). The only thing interesting about that presentation was the recorded voice that went with it. It's a classic example of reading with a fake expression. I nearly laughed, then contrived to pay attention.
That done, I was all ready to zoom off to the MRT...BUT I stumbled upon another road block. Had to enter the next room with a group of freshmen like me - I think all the girls in the group were from DMC actually - where we were introduced to the Student's Union and their activities and later given registration forms to sign up for their FOP camps. Was practically obliged to do so 'cos who fills in all their particulars and leaves the gist of the form - i.e. "tick the programmes you are interested to join"- blank??? Thankfully the girl who briefed us about the camps (a 2nd-year DMC student, coincidentally) said the day's quota for camp participants had been reached so it was very unlikely we would get a spot.
I decided not to celebrate that outright and went out of the room with the girls (we somehow lost the boys on the way). The next room contained a short passage with black cloth for walls and bright red lights...needless to say we were all not very sure of what lay beyond the passage. Turned out it was just a normal brightly-lit room, like the one before. This was for the Community Service & Cultural Club. We sat round again and someone came again to tell us all about their camps. At some point the guy talking to us asked if he could speak in Chinese instead.
I nearly freaked out.
BUT most of what he said was "wo men de camp...ta me de camp"...so I didn't freak out in the end. And when one of the girls (this time there were 4, including me, left) said she'd already signed up for the previous camps, the guy said the student union had reached their quota, but their club hadn't, so we could definitely get a place.
ARGH!!!!
Once again was practically obliged to sign up for a programme. Chose the one-day one instead of the dunno-how-many-days-stuck-in-SP one. My main idea was to be better orientated with the school, but I didn't realise - until too late - that my one-day programme was being held at Sentosa. Anyway, I paid the $6 and left...
...only to end up in another room, this one advertising for the sports club. The guy speaking to us didn't give us the application forms, so while two of the girls proceeded to the counter to fill in their forms, another girl and I sneaked out...
...only to find ourselves being ushered to the NEXT room, which had an entranceway much like the community service club. Getting very weary, we found ourselves under the bright lights again only to be told this room was for the current affairs and debating club, which our guide assured us did not do much of debating. Which is weird, but never mind. She proceeded to tell us about their programmes, and somehow or other we managed to get away without agreeing to anything.
To my utter relief, right beside the door was the staircase. As we walked down to the first floor from the third, the girl and I talked a little and traded comments that we hoped that was the end of all the camps.
Then I was back in the foodcourt again. One of the guides may have told me to proceed to level 2, but I decided to pretend I didn't hear anything and sneaked round the nearest pillar to make a quick getaway. :P
After that was the looooong walk back to the MRT and subsequently home.
Finally.

Augh! AUGH!!! *shrivels up and turns to dust*
So here I am, okay, completely absorbed in my cup noodles and a Fire Emblem forum. And it's kind of irritating 'cos it seems to be getting darker in the room and I can't read the words properly so my face is practically plastered to the screen. But never mind, right? I just keep reading...it's so interesting...
Wait a minute. But it's 1 p.m. in the afternoon! Why's it getting darker?!
*snaps her head round to look out the window*
IT'S RAINING!!!
Damn it, it's raining and it's raining harder than I've seen in quite a long time. I can barely see anything from my window. It's all white.
So I should take the opportunity and go to sleep right?
TODAY IS ENROLMENT DAY! I HAVE TO BE AT SP BY 3 P.M.!!!!!!!!!!
Please let the rain stop by 2 p.m. ... please let the rain stop by 2 p.m. ...

Lalalalala...
Yesterday started off on a high note, with me jumping around ecstatically after solving a particularly tricky problem for my story (nothing like a good leap to refresh yourself at 3 in the morning). Then, over an hour later, Liverpool got into the semi-finals. Although this time I didn't do much celebratory work, since 1) everyone was asleep by then, and 2) other than poking fun at the Juventus and Liverpool players in the first half, my sister was obviously supporting Juventus by groaning everytime they missed a shot...so it wasn't exactly safe to dance about cheering.
ANYWAY, I went to sleep and woke up wanting to go out. As usual when I wake up wanting to go out, it was raining. So I ended up spending the whole afternoon on the computer. (That's why I didn't go online at night, YQ...if you were even online last night...)
Realising that today would be my last chance to go out before the weekend crowd appeared, I decided to not take a nap in the afternoon and sleep early. Well, guess what too many late nights of reading murder stories and watching Champions League matches get you: I couldn't sleep!!! I ended up falling asleep at 5 a.m.
BUT I managed to wake up early. Just barely. And guess what again?
Yes, it was raining. Heavily. The rain was coming down in large streaks, like jail bars.
Hmmph.
The good thing was, though, that the rain stopped abruptly halfway through my lunch and the sun returned to shining brightly...
...The bad thing was that after my lunch, the rain started up in torrents again.

I was just staring at my desktop wallpaper, vaguely wondering when the month would be over so I can change it to the next month's - hey, what month is it now anyway? April right?
So why's my wallpaper still at March?!
Great. I had to realise that like halfway through April! And speaking of halfway through April, it's my father's birthday tomorrow! Yay!!!
Can't say why I'm so excited. I mean, nobody in my family really bothered about my birthday. Thus the lack of a birthday cake. So maybe that's why I'm excited. 'Cos my father's birthday is the last in the family for the year and then I'm over and done with birthdays till January 16th next year.
Well, I meant I'm over and done with my family's birthdays. :) Just in case some of you were panicking. Haha.
ANYWAY, I didn't go out today. I slept in like the good little girl I (pretend I) am. Then again like who can be bothered to wake up early and go out after sleeping at 5 a.m. And I didn't really get to sleep exactly at 5, since I was too traumatised by the BM vs. C results, plus I had just finished Curtain: Poirot's Last Case and was thinking about the ending.
Oh yeah, I had some Thai buffet lunch yesterday. Other than the Tom Yum soup the rest of the food wasn't exactly spicy...but that ulcer in my mouth sure drove me crazy. Plus the fact that I didn't get enough sleep so I was sniffing the whole day, and that annoying nerve-in-the-lower-back of mine that has been, well, annoying me...let's just say I wasn't in a good mood.
I did, however, manage to buy a new book. *everyone groans* In fact, whilst rereading my previous blog entries, I found out that the last time I bought a book was in February. So... :P!!! Haha.
But now I'm really rushing for time 'cos I have a few things I need to complete before orientation starts. I am, by the way, absolutely NOT looking forward to orientation. I hate orientations. So when the time comes, tune in to hear me rant all about it.
In fact, I shall start ranting in 5 days' time...

My head feels heavy. Any moment now it's going to come crashing down on the keyboard and this whole jumble of random alphabets will appear. That means I'm asleep.
I woke up too early today. Yeah, I know, so 11.30 a.m. isn't exactly early, but I slept at past 5 a.m. so you have to forgive me. I hope. ANYWAY, for the first time I actually forced myself to wake up instead of lazing around. The only reason Jessica Yeo does that is so she can go shopping, let me tell you first...
In fact, if you come to think of it, my motto these days is "When everybody's out to work and away, Jessica then comes out to play!" Sort of like Teletubbies.
But why am I digressing? At first it didn't seem like my mother was going to bring me out. In fact she left for Orchard without me. So, heartbroken (yeah right), I went to read my book. Then I fell asleep and was in the middle of a dream...
And an hour later I found myself at Bugis staring at shoes. As it turned out, the pair I wanted was out of my size (and that was after trying on who knows how many different shoes). So we went to look in another area, and the pair I wanted was also out of my size! Then we went to Metro at Paragon, and guess what? They didn't even have the pair I wanted.
I really hate buying shoes.
ANYWAY, finally we wound up at Takashimaya, at the Hush Puppies shop outside Delifrance. And you know what? Not only did they have the pair that I wanted, in my size...but they were on 30% discount!!! Wow.
So now I don't need to worry about being fined $50 on my first day at school for wearing slippers. Yay.
I'm bored.
Oh yes, I tried out a few more games, namely The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Sword Of Mana, The Urbz: Sims In the City...and FIFA 2004.
First and foremost, I will say FIFA 2004 should never have been created, unless the copy I have was hacked into or something. I have no idea how they managed to give all the Man U players such ridiculously low ratings!!! Sure, FIFA 2003 was a little too generous, but this is unbelievable. I took one look at the whole team's ratings and ditched the game. Huff.
Sword Of Mana was surprisingly okay. Except for the part where the main character (I played as a - duh! - girl) was attacked by this powerful archer guy, and her long-lost (guy) friend rushed on the scene to help out...well, let's just say I didn't know I could move out of the way, so my character ended up getting all the damage and died.
The Minish Cap is soooooo fun! And cute! I played a fair amount of it and I think it's pretty good. Well, it's supposed to be one of the best GBA games ever, anyway. Although I wouldn't dream of getting the game without a guide, since it's so easy to get lost and there are tons of puzzles to solve.
The Urbz is, surprisingly, very addictive. And I have no idea why, because it's really irritating to keep up with all your hunger, sleep, etc. bars, especially when you're trying to accomplish something far away from the nearest bathroom, and you have to walk all the way back just to satisfy that urgent Urb of yours. :P Anyway, you start off the game as a penniless, homeless teenager working as a window-washer in this office building. You get to play this window-washing game to earn money, but after you talk to your boss you learn that the building has been sold and you are fired. However, you get to hang around and make friends with the people in the building, and complete certain tasks. And your nice ex-boss lets you sleep in this abandoned apartment in the building. Then one day while my Urb was fixing a TV set, this video message from the old owner of the building appeared, and he said the new owner was this evil guy who was bent on turning the whole city into a, um, well, I forgot what he was planning on turning to city into, but it isn't good, so you promise the video message to prevent the new owner from getting his way.
ANYWAY, not long after that, your ex-boss says she's locked herself in the building and left her key in the law offices, so could you kindly pick the lock of the office door and go search for the key? Always the good Urb, you have to pick the lock, grab the key...
...only to find the evil new owner standing in the doorway. After a quick conversation, where he reveals his evil scheme, you're led off to...JAIL!!!
The prison cell is actually pretty good - there's a bed, TV set, shower, toilet, even food tray inside. But you have to make friends with the detective there and he'll put you on probation, whereby you're free to wander the neighbourhood and work for more money, eventually buying your own house...and someday stopping the evil owner.
Hmm. I still don't see what's so addictive about the game, but I've spent more time on it than on any other game, wandering around and making friends and trying to get a proper job to --- BANG

Ahem. (Clears throat)
Jessica has something to say about what has been going through her head the past few days, which has left her in no mood to blog:
"#$%^&*#$^&*%$#&*&%$^$%&%^%$#!!!"
Thank you for your time. Goodbye.
No, really. She is in a very very bad mood because of a lot of things, the most aggravating being:
1) Finding out she didn't miss the cut-off point for her first-choice course, but since MOE has a personal vendetta against her, they decided to bump her off and pick someone else instead. And she had to find that out after appeals had closed. Yippee. Welcome to my life.
2) Having to get like five thousand documents and things done for enrolment day (whichever day that may be), the most troublesome being that stupid medical checkup where this stupid man who came in AFTER me thought he was there first and demanded to get his check-up before me. And the receptionist actually agreed to that (why does everyone have something against me?!?!), before being told off by my mother, who was overheard by said stupid man who confronted her. If I hadn't already been inside the doctor's office by then.........he better thank his lucky stars.
3) After being told to return on Thursday (that is, yesterday) to collect my medical report (even though the Enrolment Guide plainly states that the report will be sent straight to SP from the clinic), I had to drag myself to Shenton Way...only to be told the report would be sent to SP!!! And a few hours later, when I had finally let off my indignation by browsing around Bugis...the receptionist called to tell me the exact same thing. And by that time it was already past 2 p.m.!!!
4) Watching the match last night. Watching Chelsea play makes me want to hurl something at the TV, I tell you. Luckily the only thing I had with me last night was a tuna bun.
End of ranting. Now you see why I need anger management???
Now on to happier things.
(tries desperately to think of a happy thing)
Erm...yes. After my sister's birthday lunch on Tuesday, I went to Orchard to buy *something*. So fun shopping for it (even though I already knew what I was supposed to get!). Haha. Speaking of my sister's birthday lunch, for some reason the buffet place didn't bring out white wine that day. So I settled for two glasses of red. *evil grin* Not that it had any effect on me, considering I was already half-asleep in the first place.
I not only got through chapter 19x (oh by the way, I got cheated. I didn't know it was possible to kill Kishuna...which means I restarted like three hunded times for nothing) and moved on to chapter 20 (instead of 19xx...*sniff*), which was even more annoying because the chapter is amazingly easy (apparently Lyn can kill BOTH bosses in that level without taking any damage!) - just that I couldn't find a way to recruit Legault and get the member card at the same time. For like six thousand times I managed to steal the card but missed getting to Legault by one round. Then just as I was going to give up, I somehow managed it. Wow.
Anyway, whilst still waiting for Fire Emblem 2 to arrive (actually I realised May 23rd is a national holiday and ONLY the start of orientation week...so I should have enough time to play then. Just the question of whether I am willing to spend so much money...), I have been trying my hand at a few GBA games (don't ask me how...*evil laughter*) to see if there's anything more interesting to get instead. The games are:
1) Golden Sun: Colours are so pretty on the GBA. But there's so much pointless dialogue!!! And the stupid mountain where the main characters live on has soooooo many winding trails that it's a wonder I could find my way around. I thought the part where the big boulder fell and broke the jetty, thereby causing the people on top to fall into the river and get washed away...that was pretty sad. Then I had to get help but according to the storyline, I had to stumble upon a secret conversation and get my memory wiped out. Next thing I (the real me) know, the game shifts to 3 years later and villagers are still asking me whether I feel guilty about not being in time to save those people...other than that, I think the music's nice but the fighting scenes remind me too much of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and I hated that GBC game.
2) Harvest Moon: Friends Of Mineral Town: Well, there are certainly like ten thousand better things to do here than on Harvest Moon 2 (which Sam still hasn't returned!! :P ). Problem is that equals a freaking big map and after wandering around like half the map, it was 8 p.m. (in the game), I was stuck on the mountain, and I didn't have any clue how to get home.
3) Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow: This is apparently supposed to be a great game, so I was wondering how much the Castlevania series has evolved from when all you had to do was to stab at figures magically formed from wax, and bats and other creatures. Answer? It hasn't evolved at all, except that the wax figures and other creatures are now in colour. Maybe the rest of the game is more interesting, but I couldn't be bothered less after stabbing my twentieth bat and five hundredth wax figure.
4) Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories: It still strikes me as very weird that a Japanese anime character is travelling with Donald Duck and Goofy, and the introduction of the game was NOT clear at all. So I spent my time wandering around the place and swinging my big key about aimlessly. The battles are pretty fun though; at least you get to move around and stab (with your key) anywhere you like. Except there are too many battles.
5) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: Was really looking forward to playing this, since I couldn't decide between buying it and Fire Emblem last year. I like the story - starts out in a normal town, where the new kid (me) and another kid gets bullied, and the class head stands up for us. Right after that we somehow become friends, the "another kid" buys a book about magic and we all come to my house to check it out. Then in the middle of the night I get transported to another dimension in which exists the magic creatures featured in the above book. Cool, eh, if it happened to you? The battle style is turn-based, like FE, but the view of the map is not from above so it's very hard to see where to place your character in order to strike your enemy. Not to mention the battle stats are confusing, there is no nice battle animation like in FE...and your enemies, like some of the clan you fight with...are weird creatures. I don't like fantasy creatures! Oh, and the graphics and music are just as nice as Golden Sun's - but I don't see any plot so far...
Gah. Have got to try more games. Am I biased or something? That such supposedly great games can't seem to compare with FE???

Today was a completely bland day. I didn't do anything spectacular; in fact for some reason I woke up at almost 3 p.m. Okay, okay, I slept at 6 a.m. 'cos my sister's birthday party ended at past 2 a.m. and I wanted to stick around and play Fire Emblem. I went to sleep halfway through chapter 19x.
I spent the whole day today trying to get through 19x, by the way. And I still haven't succeeded!! Argh. Going to toss my GBA SP out of the window soon. The last two times I played, I was one agonising round away from unlocking the secret chapter. Arrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhh.
This is not good for my blood pressure. And I have that stupid medical check up tomorrow so I should not be worked up right now. Do they even check your blood pressure? I mean, why would they need to check a 17-year-old's blood pressure...?
ANYWAY. Maybe the doctor will just find out I'm mentally deranged or something, so SP kicks me out before I even set foot into it.
Then I can stay home for the rest of my life trying to get past 19x.
