Okay, I realise I don't have that much time to get to Tampines and meet my friends, but anyway I thought it would be a pity if I don't get my Last Post of 2004 through, especially since I've done soooooo little posting all year (which is highly uncharacteristic of Jessica Yeo, if you ignore the fact I didn't have the Internet for more than NINE MONTHS).

ANYWAY. This is completely irresponsible of me, actually, because I haven't gotten anything ready yet, not even what blouse I'm going to wear (allow me to be bitchy here). So I should really be pulling my hair out in front of the closet now, instead of typing this and having an MSN session with Yan Qing simultaneously.Or else by the time I reach Tampines we'll be leaving, which completely defeats...argh. Okay. A problem arises.

Fine. Not going to Tampines. Will thus languish a little while longer. In fact why don't I go listen to some music right now. (accesses media library in Windows Media Player)

I am aware that I am seriously wasting blog space here. But for some reason I've forgotten what topics I wanted to blog about...

Sheesh, I think I better end off now. I'm getting beyond lame. Last but not least, though:

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S 2005!!!

...see you next year...haha...

Since I've nothing better to do now, might as well go on to the topic I was supposed to blog about yesterday

ENEMIES

This topic has really been bothering me since I started writing this novel (that, as usual, did not get completed - but I thought it was one of my best stories, and I hardly ever praise my work) two years ago (ahh, when I actually had free time in Sec 2...). Apparently it was this fantasy story (I know I am staunchly anti-fantasy, but this one doesn't feature wizards and flying unicorns and stuff) in which this girl from Reality (i.e. where we come from) gets accidentally transported to Fantasy (an alternate world) after taking a nap.

Anyway, in Fantasy everything parallels Reality, so for every person in Reality, there is an identical-looking person in Fantasy who happens to be whatever you are not - your Other. So now our protagonist and her Other have to find a way to get her back to Reality before she gets caught, and helping them is the Other of the protagonist's mortal enemy, who is of course his opposite and thus our protagonist (duh) eventually falls for him.

Now, the thing I don't get is whether it is realistic for you to be friendly with someone who has the face of your enemy - from almost the first moment that you meet. Granted, in the back of your mind you know they're not the same person, but it's still the face you've grown to hate so much over the years.

So this just basically made me think about whether if I was thrown in the same situation, would I be able to trust my enemy's Other? And then I realised I probably don't even hate my so-called enemies anyway...they became enemies because of lame incidents and when I think about it now, it's all very childish. Especially since I've long since graduated from primary school and not long ago, secondary school, so I may never see these people for the rest of my life. Which I suppose means that if I ever have to have a conversation with A or B sometime in the future, I would probably not use the cold tone they were familiar with in the past. Hmm.

Thank goodness it stopped raining. I was just beginning to pity those people on the cable cars.

Anyway. I was also sort of planning to go out on my own again, considering it's the last day of the Borders promotion, but that obviously didn't work out 'cos I happened to get out of bed at nearly 2pm. Blame it on not being able to sleep last night. In fact, I had so much time to think of so many things before I finally managed to doze off...that I ended up with a really bizarre dream.

About the last thing I remembered thinking of was what I would study next year. I grinned evilly knowing that at least, no one could force me to ever, EVER touch a damn Physics book again...

...As expected, in my dream we were attending Physics lessons at camp. (At camp!! I've always hated camps. If that were real it would be the nightmare of my life, I tell you.) I know the whole camp thing came about because as I was in a blind rage along Orchard Road yesterday (details shall NOT be given), I was listening to the radio and the DJ was making some comment about school camps. And in the dream, apparently, we were supposed to do experiments regarding radiology (radiology came about because of some book discussion I was reading past midnight). I think it's funny how physics and radiology happen to be related too, but whatever.

Anyway, that was just the first day of camp and we weren't going to start classes till the second day. So that night I was lying in my bed in the dormitory when some weird girl came in and demanded I get out and let her sleep. Being eternally kind I did, although I'm fairly sure in real life I would have hurled my pillow at her head, and now bed-less, stood in the room feeling horribly stupid. Finally I figured I had better tell someone about the weird girl, so I opened the room door - and guess which teacher I come face to face with?

Urgh. I don't know what really happened "that night" after that, but I got my bed back and was wide awake the "next morning". I remember the weather being oddly chilly and my classmates commenting they didn't remember the camp's surroundings being so nice the last time we were there (yup, I've dreamt of this campsite before).

Okay, enough rambling. The main thing is, thank goodness I woke up before we could have our first lesson!

Went out today. I don't know why my mum always gives me a weird look when she asks, "You went shopping by yourself?" and I answer, matter-of-factly, "Yes."

Sometimes I wonder if she suspects I sneak out and meet a secret someone instead...

But no, it was just a harmless trip to Orchard Road in search of badly-needed books. And I mean "badly-needed". I came up with, like, 5 books and I couldn't make up my mind (as usual). Finally settled for Ombria in Shadow, which I've been telling myself to buy for quite a long while.

Except I've been telling myself to buy the others for quite a long while too, but...what the heck.

And since I have nothing better to do now, I shall go on to today's topic

THE PROM

I ADMIT, I FINALLY ADMIT!! However much I grumbled with the masses about our school's refusal to hold a proper prom instead of only the boring, too-formal-for-its-own-good graduation ceremony, I actually would be more at a loss if there was a prom. I know Cheryl happens to disagree 'cos we were discussing this not long ago, and she said "Why (don't you like the idea)?!" Apparently she gets all excited at the chance to "seduce guys in a little black dress".

(ARGH! That sounded so screwed up! If you're too intellectually-challenged to figure it out, she meant the girls wear LBDs and seduce the guys, not the girls seduce LBD-wearing guys. Ack. What a thought.)

Which brings up two problems: 1) What to do if you (like me) have better things to do than seduce guys (okaaaaaaay...that sounded contradictory)? Surely not dance? And I know my group of friends sometimes refers to ourselves as the "rejects", but I don't exactly trust them not to dump me at the last minute...and 2) It may be fun to go try dresses and LBDs and whatever, but paying is another issue. I'm a total scrooge if you didn't already know. And what do you do with fancy dresses after the occasion is over? There are only so many times you can wear them to weddings...

Back again.

I have to admit, I have no idea how I could spend the last two days catching up 9 months' worth of Internet-surfing...and not having time to update this blog at all.

But now I happen to be bored (plus there's nothing nice on the radio), so I shall ramble about something random. Today's topic is

THE ZOO

I haven't been to the zoo in ages. Seven years, in fact. And I sorta miss it. Even though the last time I was there, I was in Primary 3 and all my classmates (including me) thought we were too old for the zoo already. I remember grumbling about it. Nine-year-olds, apparently, were too mature for the zoo. Mature. Ha! We seemed to consider ourselves very grown up then. Certainly didn't stop us from screaming at the snake enclosure, I noticed.

I AM BACK. FOR GOOD.

And goodness, has blogger changed a lot since I last posted. It's gonna take me some time to get evrything figured out, I tell you. So the whole revamping thing will come much later. Anyway, I have a lot of time to do whatever I want with this blog.

(Oh, and may I add it is brilliantly fun to write "?" in the column to the right? Almost as if I'm a school dropout.)

Okay, for starters, I have to announce some new implementations to this blog. I'm not promising no more pointless posts, 'cos I am very often bored (and I happen to have a lot of time in the next few months to feel bored), as I will always be. However, if I'm bored, I shall choose some random topic and ramble on about it. I think that's more interesting than just reading "Man, am I bored today. Yawn." five hundred times in the next few months. And if I can't find a random topic, I'll just flip open the dictionary and find some word to write about.

Fine? Even if it's not fine with you, I don't care. I'm starting on the next post now.
