I have succeeded in making myself sick. Seriously. Every morning I wake up, think, "Oh! It's a school day!" and immediately feel ill. Today I took it one step further; I really am sick. Spent most of the day with a running nose (which is still running as I type this). Not to mention I have a headache.
Funny though. Not like I didn't have enough sleep last night. My nap lasted FOUR hours, till 11 p.m. Then I did some studying and reading until nearly 3 a.m. And woke up at 9 a.m.
So. Yeah. Weird.
Too bad there's French later, or I'd gladly rush home to my nice little bed with my cuddly little huskies and........
(grumble)(grumble)(grumble)
Of course, I can always turn up for class tomorrow or Thursday, but I'd rather get it over and done with today. Don't want to spoil my Wednesday. And I can't afford to get home at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, if I want to study and sleep early in preparation for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong Friday (9-5 classes, 5.15-6.15 CA, dinner with Sam until who-knows-when...).
BUT!!! There is motivation this week (dinner with Sam) so that is good.
Now for the rest of the week........................and later in particular.
Sigh.
On a lighter note, though, today has been a preeeeeeeeeeeeetty good day.
Firstly, we got back the ICP proposal before the lecture. Our group got..........................an A!!!! 87%. Not bad eh??? :) Even though the A only means we get the full TWO marks for this component, but whatever. An A is an A. :P
And then.............Oral Comm. Sigh. C+ for my last two presentations, the last of which was a complete mess. So I tried my verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry hardest to calm down and make improvements this week. And ignore the camera filming my presentation.
So anyway, I did it as properly as I could, went off the podium feeling quite satisfied...then watched the video later. Apparently that stupid head of mine was continuously tilted (sarcastic tone to Sam) to one side. Oh, and I didn't really look up completely after reading from the script. But whatever. The point is...............
I got a B+!!! (does celebratory dance in the middle of the library)
Not to mention that most of the class got C's this week (just like half got B's last week, which made my presentation even more pathetic) and only two got B-pluses.
Now I'm wondering how on earth I managed to get a B+. Bleargh.
Must. Keep. That. Up!!!

Ignoring the fact that I am obviously tired, I shall now talk all about my weekend, starting from 5 p.m. on Friday.
Okay. I had a most depressing and aggravating Friday (in case you haven't already guessed), so I wanted to let off steam. Badly. Not to mention because of the cancellation of CC (the only good part of my day), I had more sleep and was thus more awake.
So after school I took the usual east-bound MRT train...except instead of heading home, I went to Great World City.
Normally I only have one reason to visit GWC, but today's reason was a little different: I zipped off to Esprit to get my blue shirt. About 1.5 hours later, I was at home and feeling slightly better. Had a nice loooooooong nap that made me feel even better. Then it was off to type my FOM notes (oddly I had more than usual to type), and do some French homework I had overlooked. And somehow chatting with YQ (and later Sam) led me to sleep at 4.30 a.m.
Saturday! More retail therapy!!! Yay!!!
Actually I only went to Centrepoint's Mango for the sale. Decided on a green three-quarter sleeved shirt for one of those miserably cold days at school (namely, Tuesday in French class, Wednesday in the Digital Media Studio, and Thursday in FOM tutorial). Went to a few other stores after that, but finally ended up meeting my mother at Raffles City later in the day.
We...walked around aimlessly. I mean, weren't we just there last Sunday? :P Then as we were walking out of the building, we saw a whole line of army vehicles lined up and ready to be paraded, so we stuck around to watch the festivites. Haha.
The "festivities" included a lot of planes flying above, and even more vehicles moving in a procession. Then, just when I thought it would never end, a few brightly-lit floats moved down the road and disappeared around the corner.
Then it was time to go home. Wanted to finish reading my FOM notes for the gazillionth time, but ended up falling asleep halfway and gave up at 3 a.m. :(
Today, unfortunately, started off very badly. I awoke, rolled over to the other end of my pillow, then got tired of that position and rolled back to face the wall.
...The thing is, I had somehow overestimated the distance I had originally moved, so my head ended up crashing into the wall instead.
Man, did that hurt.
The first thing I did was to recall some FOM stuff to see how much brain damage had been done. I couldn't really remember what I had read, but in the end I decided that was because I was too stupid to remember in the first place, and not because I had lost a large number of brain cells during the collision. :P
Anyhow, I had to get up and finish reading the rest of the notes. Got so confused with all the 4-step-processes and phrases that either begin or end with "marketing", that I had to make even smaller, condensed notes to classify everything. :P
And then...back to shopping. Since my shopping was unfortunately interrupted the previous day and this was the last weekend to get books from Kinokuniya. I somehow ended up going with my mother again. Bought even more things - white belt, white sweater, book, lots of biscuits, etc. and by the time we boarded the bus headed for home, I was going to drop dead from fatigue.
...But my sister decided to be very generous today and treat us to dinner at HarbourFront instead. So I didn't get home till past 9 p.m.
And now I'm sitting here typing away at the keyboard, having just been abandoned by two people, as usual, on MSN.
I think I shall go play FE. Or should I read my book? Hmm. Still only halfway through with Antiquity...

"Aiya, it's for this semester only...next semester you'll be in different classes..."
IF ONLY THAT WAS THE CASE!!! Why else have I been complaining so much?
...Because the fact is that I'm stuck with them and they're stuck with me for THE NEXT FREAKING THREE YEARS.
Damn it.
And to think they're the only part I don't like about school. And I've never even come this close to liking school before.
Damn it all.

Your #1 Match: INTJ
|
|
The Scientist
You have a head for ideas - and you are good at improving systems.
Logical and strategic, you prefer for everything in your life to be organized.
You tend to be a bit skeptical. You're both critical of yourself and of others.
Independent and stubborn, you tend to only befriend those who are a lot like you.
You would make an excellent scientist, engineer, or programmer. |
Your #2 Match: INTP
|
|
The Thinker
You are analytical and logical - and on a quest to learn everything you can.
Smart and complex, you always love a new intellectual challenge.
Your biggest pet peeve is people who slow you down with trivial chit chat.
A quiet maverick, you tend to ignore rules and authority whenever you feel like it.
You would make an excellent mathematician, programmer, or professor. |
That's...hahahahahahaha...funny...imagine...me as a scientist or mathematician!!!
*collapses in laughter*
*wipes tears from eyes* That said, though, how freakily accurate is "Your biggest pet peeve is people who slow you down with trivial chit chat."???
Hmm.
Maybe I should transfer to another course next year.
But...hahahahahahahaha.
ANYWAY, enough of laughing. I have two things to talk about in this post. Two things that happened after my previous post, that is.
Firstly, halfway through ITB, the class rep announced that tomorrow's 9 a.m. CC class had been cancelled 'cos the lecturer was ill. Don't know how he found out, but who cares. Everyone was cheering loudly (in the middle of working on their PowerPoint slides), realising school would now start at 11 a.m. And since the 11 a.m. class is Character Development, which is completely pointless and has nothing to be learnt......well, you get what ideas were entering my classmates' heads.
Plus the fact that, after CD, comes a 2-hr break. So I won't be surprised if a whole bunch of them only turns up at 3 p.m.!
However, I am a GOOD GIRL so I shall turn up for CD. Or else there wouldn't be anyone in my CD group to do the planned role-play. :P
Yeah, so anyway, I went home feeling a lot happier than usual.
Got home and my mother said she was going downstairs to buy dinner. Being on the verge of sleeping, I was in a hurry to eat so I bounded out to the living room the moment the front door opened.
...Only to see a small little lizard skipping through the doorway.
!!!
That's for all you people who say you aren't scared of lizards 'cos they're only on walls!
Back to the lizard. It hopped around for a bit, and in other to chase it away, my mother handed me the plastic bags of food. I took the bags and climbed onto the nearest chair. From my vantage point I could see that little annoyer disappearing behind the TV cabinet and back out again, only to be flipped out by a well-aimed sheet of paper, and subsequently chased off to who-knows-where.
That done, my mother closed the door and asked, "How did it get in?..............Eh, what are you doing standing so high up?!"
Erm. Well. Haha.

In the SB library again. The very first computer station, in fact. Damn glad to be here. So sick of spending the last week unproductively with the whole group. Imagine the number of posts I missed because of the stupid proposal...
Anyway, yeah, just handed in the proposal and am currently waiting for my last class, ITB. Every Monday and Thursday I have this strong urge to give ITB a miss, but since I'm such a nice little girl who wants a clean record, well...too bad. :P
Hey, does anyone know about the Swensen's promotion? Order any main course or pasta, pay $1 and you get UNLIMITED ice cream!!!
...Problem is, of course, that it's only for weekdays and I'm only free on Wednesday.
Sigh. I saw the poster today and remembered the crazy two weeks last year when Swensen's had that Topless 5 discount. Remembered how Swensen's Tampines was packed full of school students; remembered how I got so sick of butterscotch; remembered the three occasions I went there and the different people I went with; remembered that totally lame trip (my second) when we had ice cream, then went to EastLink for lunch after that.
Anyway.
As you can probably guess, I'm in an unusually nostalgic mood these few days. Every little thing makes me remember something from the past, not necessarily only the last two years. But, yeah, mostly the last two years. Like everytime I'm in a lecture theatre, I can just imagine WQ, C and I laughing our heads off (for no particular reason) during the Spelling Bee. And if I get super tired and can't open my eyes, I start smiling remembering the "circulation" technique I used to use in Bio and A Math. Haha.
And then there's my pencilcase itself. One of my pencil lead dispensers dates back to 2000, and it's been empty for quite some time, but I can't bring myself to throw it away. On my blue-black Sarasa pen, the words "Lord Eliwood of Pherae" are still visible, as is "224539" on my purple Pilot G2. My blog address is on my purple highlighter. :)
Gah. I shall shut up for now. A little more reminiscing another time. Not particularly free now, considering it's already 2.43 p.m.
My point of my blog (realise I always take a loooooooooong time to get to the point?) post now is to update on last Saturday. Since I just read YQ's very helpful tag. And I'm also wondering when she was online, because isn't she supposed to stay away from the computer this week? Hmm. And speaking of staying away, people were seriously avoiding me last night. Amusingly, WH accepted my Friendster request without ever logging on MSN. As for Sam, I told her "don't think I didn't see you log in and go offline immediately!!!". :P
Yes. Yes. The update. Erm. Yup, of course we talked about Sam, especially 'cos YQ was doing that Chinese test thingy and Sam decided to make some...er...questionable remarks about her results. ;) But I shall leave it at that because she'll read this and we don't want to spoil her reputation any further than we spoilt it on Saturday, do we? Or so she says. Hmm.
And we saw YQ's sister! Haha. Funny. I never meet my sister anywhere. Then again I'm the sort of person who doesn't notice you until you wave your hand right in front of my face. (shrugs) :P
As YQ said, we talked about her Adidas craze. But see, we're always talking about it. Talking about how we don't understand it, actually. :P I don't like Adidas!!!!! Boo!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha.
Now I'm wondering how on earth I could forget that WH took my handphone, listened to the mp3s while transferring who-knows-what photos via infrared to his phone.............
...............and kindly ended up depleting my battery bar from 6 to ONE!!!!!!
Grr.
Bleargh. Have to leave now. See if I have time to blog tonight. Anyway why is nobody ever online when I log in at school???

Now we get to a depressing post.
Anyway, as YQ already knows, on Tuesday I was standing outside T1751 (a.k.a. my French classroom), which is in one of the engineering blocks and facing the MRT. So I got a good view of all the students heading towards the station and waiting on the platforms for the trains.
And of course that was depressing, because I couldn't be like them. (And of course Sam will say that's my fault for taking French, but whatever. Anyway I wouldn't be like them either way, since my school finishes a whole hour earlier on Tuesday! :P)
Yeah. So. I was standing there listening to my mp3 drown out my surroundings, and it dawned on me what had been bothering me since I started school.
.................................
The fact that in SP, I'm as good as "a stranger in a strange land".
Seriously. Think about it this way. Very few people living in the East ever bother to come here. All around me, every single freaking day, I walk around with my classmates and they're all going, "Hi! Oh hey! Hello!" as they bump into ex-classmate after ex-classmate after ex-classmate. And I'm just walking along beside them, either staring at the ground or looking straight ahead.
And once lectures/tutorials/whatever ends, handphones all around me will start vibrating. Then after a seemingly loud conversation, they'll turn to me (or anyone else nearby, whatever) and say, "I'm meeting my friend now at (somewhere on campus). See you." And my phone just stays silent the whole day.
Note!!! That's not saying why on earth nobody has been sms-ing me, since I don't actually sms them either...it's just a contrast to show how pathetic the situation is!!!
And when school actually ends, you see all these people waiting for their secondary school friends (from different parts of SP) at SB and at the MRT. Then they walk all the way together and go home together. And me, just hurrying along trying to avoid some people who are NOT my friends. So obviously, when I can't avoid them, I just linger miserably around and wish I could say, "Mwahahaha, I'm meeting my friend for lunch/to go home with. BYE BYE!!!" and dash off gratefully.
Of course, I can make up an imaginary friend, but that takes too much energy, running off to some hidden part of SP and back to my class again. And when someone asks me what my friend is studying, I'm so dead. Besides, what's the difference? Still either alone or wanting to GET AWAY, ASAP.
Jessica wrote home at 11:09 pm
Wow. I finally have time to blog!!!
Anyway, a quick update on my group ICP proposal (if you know about it)...it shall be done (miraculously) by tomorrow. Had to relinquish my "power" (of having the file stored in my thumbdrive) today, but what the heck. The least I can say is that I have less work to do and more time to sleep. And I seriously needed that nap, having stayed up till 2.30 a.m. this morning editing the stupid proposal and doing half of my French homework. Then just as I was giving up and going to bed, Sam came online so.....................yeah, you get the idea. NOT much sleep at all. I was horrifyingly near to falling asleep in the first lecture already. Thankfully there's a reason why I take Wednesday so lightly: because it's my only day (Tuesday has French so it doesn't count) where I have only two classes - the second being DTP in the wonderful digital media studio, and coming after a 2-hour break.
Except unfortunately, instead of being able to nap during my break, I had to stay awake and "discuss" the final draft of the proposal. I say "discuss" because, like they have been doing everyday since the proposal deadline was given, the group just wouldn't stop digressing into pointless stuff like...well, too pointless to remember. Plus I was getting irritated since they hadn't been working on the draft since Monday and I was the one getting not enough sleep, and their digressing was preventing me from catching up on that sleep. (This is not including another group member, who ALSO worked on the proposal and was getting exasperated too.)
Grr. As you can see sleep is very important to me.
ANYWAY that's not the point. The point is my last update was faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from complete. 'Cos, you see.....................................
The old gang had another Saturday night outing!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, that was over-exaggerating. But....................
It was fun!!!!
Better than everyday life at SP anyway.
Oh no, not like I hate SP or anything. The MRT station's cool, the food's good (though I seem to be eating the same thing everyday), the digital media studio...er, can't stop raving about it, the classrooms are all very nice with nice desks and chairs (but it gets suuuuuuuuuper cold sometimes), the glass walls in com labs can get disturbing but it makes you feel less isolated, the lecture theatres are okay (I still think the CLS people got a better deal, having been in their lecture theatre before), the lecturers are all very nice (although when you get to address some by their first names, it gets reaaaaally awkward)........................
......................and my modules, for the most part, are great.
So, you figure out what I don't like about SP. It's not too hard. :P
ANYWAY, back to my nice long post. YQ finally changed her mind and WH was surprisingly free, so we all met at Tampines Interchange's McDonald's. (Yeah, I know, so mean right? Make me go all the way there...hmmph!)
We were at McDonald's because YQ had a sudden craving for McDonald's food. Ended up with three student McChicken meals. Obviously it was YQ who bought the food. :P
What did we talk about? Haha, I really can't remember exactly. In general it was COMPLAIN ABOUT POLY NIGHT! *evil laugh* Just what I needed. More time to complain about poly.
Well, after our dinner we were very full so we spent an extra long time at McDonald's before making our way to Cafe Cartel at 9.30 p.m. or so.
*pauses for a while*
Yeah. Crazy Jessica. Still hanging around Tampines so late at night. What did you expect? Me to go home early and do my work?! :P At Cartel there was a little hitch while writing down our orders. YQ and I initially wanted a Blush, WH a Lime Me Up. Then WH changed his mind and chose one of those blended thingies, so I changed mine to a Lime Me Up (first order sheet wasted). Then we pointed out that the blended thingy doesn't come with a scoop of ice cream, and a Spider would be more value for money...so WH changed his mind again and finally decided on a Lime Me Up. There. 2 order sheets wasted. Haha. Anyway, thanks to his abandoning us at the last minute the previous Saturday, we got $3 off our drinks! *another evil laugh* Erm...what did we talk about there?! Probably ran out of things to complain about. I only know they had to practically force me to leave since it was almost 11 p.m. and I was still whining that I didn't want to go home. :P Er, well, so I eventually got home at midnight and wanted to do some work but, like the previous week, fell asleep not long after. :( P.S. YQ, if you remember anything significant we talked about, don't mind tagging? :)

Gah. I shall just spare some time to update my blog now.
I just had one seriously loooooooooong week in school. My school days ended on:
Monday at 5 p.m.
Tuesday at 8 p.m. (French went into overtime AGAIN)
Wednesday at 7 p.m. (Connect DMC also went into overtime)
Thursday at 5 p.m.
Friday at 5 p.m.
I'm not particularly sure how I survived it. This Wednesday will be a lot better though. Can't say the same for Tuesday, unfortunately.
Anyway, a quick highlight of my week:
Monday: We had to make some "Communication Model" during our ICP tutorial. None of us brought materials so we went about SB getting old cardboard boxes, straws, etc. I found a nice branch (it fell by itself) and some leaves. So we ended up making a transactional communication model and presented it with a skit involving a lost girl in the forest.
Tuesday: Oral Comm lecturer was SUPER late. Almost 15 min late in fact. The whole class was outside the LC Studio grumbling. We were all like, "If she doesn't come in 15 min, we're leaving!" Then one classmate remembered the lecturer had mentioned she would be on course in one week. So he thought it was this week and announced it to the whole class. Then everyone started cheering and didn't hear him protesting, "But I'm not sure!" In the end another classmate took out his handphone as our lecturer had apparently called him. He was like, "Oh, you have the flu today? Then we don't have class?"
....................and then everyone (except him) realised the lecturer was standing right behind.
Wednesday: We finally received our sketchbooks during DTP. Spent most of the class listening to a very interesting (in my opinion) lecture on art movements and colour theory (anyone remember colour theory? We did it in Sec 2 art.). The last hour was spent using our 5 digital photos to trace a self-portrait in cubism. Quite cool.
After that was Connect DMC 2005. Very few of my class went. We were all randomly divided into groups according to television and movie shows, and each group had to - surprise! - perform a short skit involving the characters in their group's show. Mine was Desperate Housewives. I acted as a car. Haha. I know. How funny. I spent the whole skit just standing lamely there. So didn't feel much when our group won for best skit.
By the way, what is it with this course and skits? I've acted in three impromptu skits in two weeks...Oh, and the buffet was good. REALLY good.
Thursday: Erm...FOM tutorial. For some reason, two out of my four other group members didn't turn up for the whole 3 hours. (One came later, the other one didn't turn up at all) Plus another one was on MC. So the remaining girl and I joined up with the group behind us, which was also missing members. (I have no idea why so many were so late...considering all who were late didn't even stay back for Connect!)
ITB was at its most boring...and relaxing, whichever way you want to look at it. Mainly because the *ahem* ever-hardworking me did all my work beforehand (studied the PowerPoint, did the quiz, did the worksheet)...so I was left with almost two full hours of surfing the Net. Haha.
Friday: Finally. I was in a good mood early on because, for the first time, we didn't have any CC weekend assignment. Lalala. Can't remember what we did during Character Development, except that we were briefed about this end-July-visit-libraries-and-read-to-kids programme. :P Oh, and I barely managed to stay awake during the 2-hour FOM lecture. It was better towards the end. And just when I had got on the MRT, Sam sms-ed saying she'd just landed. :) ...That's all. Well, maybe not. I've got a stupid ICP proposal to come up with before Thursday (with my group), but I don't want to go into details. Anyway. Pardon me if I'm not particularly free this week because of the proposal, and next week because of my FOM CA. Gee. If I'd known earlier, I'd've gone for a slacker course. Like...I don't know. Every course I've heard of so far seems slacker than mine. I'm sure there are just as bad ones out there. I'm sure. Okay, I'm NOT sure...

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!! Jerpsie alert!!! (Check my chatterbox) Haha.
Coincidence or what? Mention the JERPS and a Jerpsie appears. Hmm.
Anyway I'm also very bored. This is just lame. Either I'm so crazily busy or freaky free. Well, usually crazily busy.
I'm thinking. I have slightly over an hour to kill here before I have to zip off to block T17 for French. And I have nothing to do. Well, almost nothing. I edited my 2nd CC assignment...but I can't print it here. I already studied Section 3 of the ITB PowerPoint last night. Ditto for ICP notes. And I've done both the ITB and FOM quiz. I don't have any work for OC.
Hmm. There's my first CC assignment. I feel like rewriting it...but...I'm lazy. Haha. Like I typed one whole page and now I want to retype the whole thing?!
There's French notes. Read them last night too. (I forgot school starts at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, so I ended up with more free time than usual...although not enough to read my book.) Plus if I read them AGAIN then I'll get a headache from another 2 hours of French later. :P
The only pressing work I need to do (by tomorrow) is my DTP digital pics. Gah. Looks like everyone who doesn't have a digital cam, borrowed from their friends. But none of my friends have digital cams!!!
I've decided I shall make do with my handphone. The picture quality isn't all that great, and I have no idea how I can get the right size for my pictures, but whatever. It's better than nothing.
The only problem is that I can't possibly whip out my phone now, in the middle of the library, and start snapping away.
That's...narcissistic.
And I don't have enough space on my phone anyway. So now I shall just go delete some useless files.
Rest of post deleted by user so that you will continue thinking nice thoughts about her...

Unfortunately this is only a one-hour break, and I had to have lunch, so I'll probably only have time to blog now. Never mind. There's another break later.
Speaking of lunch. For the first time I sat at one of those two-seater tables. And for ten minutes (the time I took to finish my lunch, duh), I ate while staring lovingly at.......................
..........................
..........................my bag.
:P
Haha. I'm kidding. No, I mean I'm kidding about staring lovingly at my bag. But yes, I was staring at my bag because I ate alone.
Like you couldn't already guess. :P :P :P
ANYWAY, on to less pathetic stuff. I realise I haven't blogged since.........
.........eh. I just got an sms from my classmate. Apparently she doesn't even know I'm at school. !!!
Great. Now where was I? Right. Haven't blogged since Wednesday. Forgive the freaking busy Jessica Yeo, will you? Actually I haven't a clue why I'm so busy, either. Staring at my timetable, I don't see why I'm up till so late every night doing work. Hmm. Must be my insistance on typing out my FOM and ITB notes.
But never mind. This week I shall take more time off to enjoy myself. For one, I shall read the stupid textbook after the lecture.
And speaking of enjoying myself, it brings me to last SATURDAY. In order to go about my shopping spree on Saturday, I had to over-work even more on Friday. I think I slept past 4 a.m. and woke up at 9 a.m.
My first stop was Orchard Road. Zara Liat Towers. As I was queuing up to pay for my shirt, the cashier told the guy in front of me (whose purchases came up to above $300!!! For a GUY!!!) that he was entitled to a free "Madrid 2012" (propaganda...) shirt. So I was all like, "Hmm...so if you spend a hell lot of money, you get a free shirt. Hmm."
And then, to my great surprise, the cashier asked me what size shirt I wanted. And my purchase cost like $16.90! Haha. That was sooooooo funny.
Anyway, I spent the rest of my time (till about 3 p.m.) wandering the whole stretch of Orchard Road. Lost track of how many Esprits and Mangos I popped into. I bought another shirt at the Takashimaya branch of Zara, by the way, and I didn't get another free shirt :(. Plus that shirt cost more. Hmmph. Haha. I did, however, get that red "Madrid 2012" wristband thingy.
I also (of course!) popped into Kinokuniya. Had this stupid voice in my head telling me to buy a book. Some books. But I figured book-buying can wait till this weekend. Or next. I mean, it's not like I'm anywhere close to finishing Antiquity. At most I have time to read, like, 3 or 4 pages before it's bedtime.
I had my wonderful Shrooms Burger meal for lunch. The whole KFC was crazily crowded so I had to takeaway and find some place to sit and eat.
Then I went over to City Hall by MRT (got lazy to top-up my card and walk out to the bus stop again). Had 2-over hours to kill before meeting YQ and WH. Drove myself crazy by walking around the usual shops in Raffles City, then the usual shops in CityLink, then the usual shops at Suntec. Seriously, I wish I'd brought along my ICP textbook. Or book. Or whatever.
I returned to the directory at the entrance of Suntec at EXACTLY 6 p.m. Didn't wait long before YQ and a few other Photography members appeared, including Natasha and Ana and KH. At first we had to travel to Dhoby Ghaut to meet WH, but just as we entered CityLink, WH called YQ to say he couldn't make it. Which of course, left everyone saying evil things about him. :P Haha.
So we headed back to Suntec and PastaMania ("we" meaning YQ, Ana, KH and I). YQ tried (but failed) to make me eat something other than Bacon Aglio. She had her clam-thingy (Vongolle?) whilst Ana and KH shared a plate of tuna-something.
My memory is so good. ANYWAY, wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...like how long has it been since I last met any ex-4A-er (other than YQ and WH and Edwin and Divya)? Haha...a really really really good change from chatting with people I don't have anything in common with. :p I suddenly miss 4A 2004. I mean, more than usual. I miss arguing about which bus, 38 or 18, to take home with Samantha. I miss having a cup of grape ice-blended bubble tea after school (*looks at water bottle sadly*). I miss crapping around and not doing SS questions with my SS group (JERPS - you figure out who my group members were). I miss the black pepper chicken pasta (although I have no complaints about SP food - just that I can't be bothered to find time for enjoying my lunches). I miss the Tom Yam seafood. I miss the lemon barley and the weird blueberry drink at the drinks stall. I miss not paying attention during Bio and Lit (oops). But THEN AGAIN. A Math. Chinese. Physics. Haha. I think the cons of secondary school far outweigh the pros. Except maybe the whole nap thing. Yeah. I'd kill to get home at 2.30 p.m. and sleep the whole afternoon away again. *sigh* And I'm sure we'd all have killed to have one- and two-hour breaks between classes in secondary school... Speaking of wanting more time...I just realised something last night. Something bad. So I was just viewing my timetable online again (hoping against hope that one day, they'll alter it to be a bit more bearable...), and apparently there's a list for the total number of classes we'll have next semester for our modules. Let's see...I have exactly one less one-hour class next semester. Like, what a change. But at least it's still less. ...Then I realised they didn't factor in the number of classes allocated for our GEM! So that's like 1.5 to 2 MORE hours! And then I'm all like, "OKAAAAAAY...but our timetable is so freaking full, so how are they gonna slot in anymore classes?" ...And then I realised the earliest time classes can start is 8 a.m. And that they can reduce two-hour breaks to one hour. And that they can make all my classes end at 5 p.m. everyday. Maybe even later. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So not a good thought. But that's beside the point. I must talk about happier stuff. So...erm...we had dinner; talked a lot of lame stuff (mostly contributed by Ana!) then we got up to leave. I was so tired of walking the whole day, I wanted to sit back down again. :P The others, for some reason, were craving chocolate, so we went to Carrefour to browse. I completely forgot to get ice cream while they were debating which chocolate(s) to get. :( But Ana gave me one chocolate and YQ the other half of hers. :) Then, sadly, KH and Ana had to leave. So we walked together back to the entrance. While they headed for CityLink, YQ and I went to the giant Starbucks. It wasn't crowded and we managed to find one of those comfy couches to sit on. Well, really four couches around a table, so I had a lot of space to stretch out and sleep. Not that I slept. YQ used her all-powerful coupon again so we got Frappucinos at half-price. Caramel! Sadly, the drinks didn't last very long, so we *sniff* had to leave that cosy cosy place and return to Raffles City. At Raffles City, we walked around the Lego displays where YQ posed with... Harry Potter! (albeit made of Lego bricks...) By that time the displays were closing, so we made a last stop at MPH, then headed home. At home I had to finally get down to finishing up MORE work, but I fell asleep halfway through Chapter 2 of ICP. :P Sunday I would've preferred to stay home and sleep the day away, but I had to go get my thumb drive. Didn't really do much other than have lunch and get the thing; was too tired and sick of Orchard Road already. Actually I was kind of sick honestly. The whole world was spinning and I was having my usual headache. I even considered not going to school today. But apparently pasta (yes, I ate pasta again) cures all. :)

At the library again. 2 hour break today so I have a lot of time to waste. Not to mention I purposely ate a VERY heavy breakfast, so I don't need lunch.
Before I talk about today though, let's go back to yesterday.
Our class was very early for the ICP lecture. Not that we all came together; it just happened coincidentally. Then the guys decided to be lame and switched off all the lights, so I think the others outside thought the lecture theatre wasn't even open. :P Anyway, as usual we just filled in the blanks in our printouts. There was also a 2-hr break after that; ended up at FC 3 again. Actually I don't really mind FC 3. The food's pretty good. By good I mean they sell a lot of noodles. :) After our lunch we went into the library. As proof of exactly how small the BizIT library is, I managed to find everything I wanted to find. Find, not borrow. I'm still happily trying to overwork myself and end up with no free time every night.
ANYWAY, the next (and last) class was Oral Comm. Yay! Presentation time! (note the sarcasm)
And...I got...a...
.....................................................C+.
Well, it's like "#$%^&!!!" if you look at it now, but the fact's that half the class got a C+, only two people had a B-, and the rest either received a D+ or Ungraded. The lecturer went through our strengths and faults after that. She came to me and was all like, "You were quite soft at the start, but got louder towards the end...you used some Singlish..."
And I was like "What the!!! I purposely made sure my presentation was in perfect English..."
Then she continued with, "But it's good that you didn't have notes..."
And I realised she'd gotten the wrong person. Because I had notes, I spoke in perfect English (:P)...
...and AMAZINGLY, I wasn't soft.
So I'm pretty proud of myself. Instead of pointing out that I 1) have bad posture, 2) speak too fast, and 3) have sucky pronunciation, apparently she said I only have problems with my intonation and that I could improve my eye contact.
Therefore OC ended with me in a good mood and 1.5 hours to waste before my French class. I ended up with two of my classmates (one who is in the same French class, the other who was waiting to attend a CCA meeting). First we walked to FC 5 to get our ICP notes binded, eat a little, then as we were going to FC 3 (I can't recall the reason), my classmate (the CCA one) decided to change her Wednesday Japanese class to Thursday instead (because it was clashing with a few things), so we walked all the way back to SB and the LC department.
That done with, we still had about half an hour left. We went to FC 4 (for the air con) to sit for a while, then as 5.30 p.m. approached, went in search of our blocks.
Interestingly, although the LC department is in SB, our French class is situated almost right outside the MRT. We only saw the point of that later. Around 5.20 p.m. we parted and my classmate and I went up to the fifth floor.
The class started sliiiightly late. There were quite a lot of people, and my classmate had the bright idea to sit at the back of the classroom. Then as the lecturer started talking, we realised we had a hard time catching what he said (he was speaking in English, obviously), so that turned out to be a baaaad idea. We basically started off introducing ourselves (in English), then went on to learn various questions-and-answers in French, along with the pronunciation.
Oh, I can tell you this. My French pronunciation is crap. Other than that I'm not worried about the course. (I didn't do that self-study stuff for nothing!) The lecturer went round asking the questions as we learned them, and we had to reply. I managed "Mon prenom est Jessica" (My first name is Jessica) on the first try, but for some reason I just couldn't get "Je suis singapourienne" (I am Singaporean). The lecturer got so "frustrated" he pretended to throw his water bottle at me! Haha.
The class went into seeeeeeeeerrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiioooooooooooouuuuuuuuuussssssssss over-time. It ended at 8.10 p.m. instead of 7.30!!! So I got a good view of SP At Night. Then as we were walking towards the MRT, my classmate and I were all like, "Thank goodness the block's so close to the MRT...imagine walking all the way out in darkness from SB!"
Got home at 8.40 p.m. Was freaking STARVING. My sister and I were supposed to share a packet of rice, but she wasn't home yet so what the heck, I ate the whole thing. I don't think I've ever eaten so much so fast before. As expected, I got indigestion after that. :P
Anyway since it was already so late, I couldn't take my lovely nap, so I went online instead to print out some French notes from the SP BlackBoard thingy and revise my ITB notes at the same time. Was on MSN with YQ (as usual), and was going off at midnight when WH logged on. So ended up trading poly sob stories instead. We both insist we're outcasts in our classes. And that annoying guy goes home at 1 p.m. today! NOT FAIR!!! I'm off at 3 and that's my earliest...*sniff*...yeah, as I was saying, poly sob stories. :P
I went to sleep at past 2.30 a.m. without even bothering to pick my clothes. I was THAT tired. Woke up in the morning when it just started raining heavily. My French books were right under the window so I got up to close the windows immediately. Then I went back to lie in bed. I had half a mind not to attend my FOM lecture, I tell you. It was soooooooooo nice and cold and cosy...................and I was soooooooooooooo crazily tired. Besides, I would only miss a one-hour lecture. And since there'd be a two-hour break afterwards, I'd only need to turn up at school at...noon! Haha.
But my fantasies were spoilt because we don't have proper notes for FOM (unlike ICP), so I have to be there physically to copy from the slides. Bleargh.
Got to school at the same time as usual - around 8.40 a.m. Since the weather was so nice (for a change), it had stopped raining, and the lecture theatre was nearer to the front of the school, I took the open-air route up the slope instead.
FOM was okay as usual. I'm trying hard to like it. I mean, the lecturer's nice and all that, but it doesn't change the fact that marketing is mind-numbingly boring. :P And we have our 3-hr FOM tutorial tomorrow! ARGH!
Err...My computer time's almost up. Sigh. Wanted to type my FOM notes out. See whether I can extend my booking. Well, better post this before I get cut off or something (I have no idea what happens; I usually leave well before time-out because I have a class next).
P.S. Did I mention what a breeze booking a com is? All you have to do is go up to any kiosk in school (I usually use the one in the SB foyer, on the way to the library, although there's one in the com area itself), place your student card in a slot, then choose which com area you want, and click "CONFIRM". And voila, booking! (LATER) Ohhhh...I get it! So I had just clicked "Publish Post", and this message popped up saying my computer time was almost up, and would I like to extend my session or end my session? So of course I clicked "Please extend my session"...and another message popped up: "Your session has been extended!" So, yeah...if you haven't already figured, my session has just been extended. :P Off to FOM notes now! Unfortunately I won't be getting my thumb drive till Friday at least, so for now I have to keep sending my documents to my Yahoo! mail (an account created especially for schoolwork). But never mind, 'cos I always utilise the password option in MS Word. Mwahaha. :P

Wanna hasten a guess where the beloved owner of this blog is? (:P)
I'm at the BizIT library!
Thought I might as well do something slightly productive during my one-hour break. I'd rather be reading though. But I did that the last break and probably got a suntan at the same time (so there aren't any secluded yet shady spots...fine).
Anyway, I would just like to say that staying up till 1 a.m. yesterday to type that stupid poem for CC was a total waste of time. I should've just gone out in the afternoon and gone to sleep early. Not that we weren't asked to present our stuff in class. We just weren't made to do so. :P But then again, we have to do a proper copy for submission on Friday, so at least I don't need to do extra work!
About Friday's 8 a.m. CC class, we have successfully changed it to 9 a.m. So now I start at 9 a.m. everyday other than Tuesday (11 a.m.). And speaking of Tuesday, I changed my French class to tomorrow! So now I only need to spend 8.5 hours in school on French-class-day. And if I'm too tired, then I can go home at 3 on Wednesday to sleep. :) Another thing about changing my class, I thought it would be freakishly hard because the notice stated we must have a valid reason and that our request would be considered on a case-to-case basis. So I went up to the FLLC's counter, asked if I could change my class to Tuesday, the lady said it would depend if there were vacancies, she flipped to the page and there were vacancies, then she crossed my name off Wednesday and added it to Tuesday.
Yup. Just like that. No questions asked!
So looks like I'll be bringing all my wonderful French stuff to school tomorrow. Hope the class is fun...
Ahh...I have about 35 min left before my next, and last, class - ITB. Hopefully we're still "learning" about the school's email system, so I can slack as usual. Mwahaha. Can't wait to get home and finally relax. That was a totally crappy weekend, I tell you. On Saturday all I did was revise FOM's notes and read through the textbook, plus reading through my ICP textbook (it's actually quite interesting - but I don't remember anything, so I'll have to reread), and DTP notes on Art Movements. Then Sunday was spent transferring music over MSN to my com, then to my sister's laptop, and finally to my phone. Sunday night I had to force myself to sit down and THINK about something to write. Again it didn't leave me much time to pick today's clothes. Seriously, I can't go through a week without having to wear two new clothes.
Hmm. Shall go shopping this weekend. Want some blue shirts to balance all my pink clothes. :P
I sooooo want to bring my GBA SP tomorrow. I am like 3 or 4 chapters from the end. Too bad I have to wait till end July to have time to buy (and play) FE: TSS. Oh, and read HP #6 too. Problem is I'll probably be flooded with projects by then. Sigh. Better "enjoy" my time right now.
Oh yeah. I've been thinking about this. Some of my lecturers have been stressing the fact that we have so much freedom in poly. I never really realised it before. I mean, it's not like I:
1) Keep loooooooong fingernails and paint them in vibrant colours with fancy designs,
2) Have any intention to dye/highlight my hair,
3) Like wearing my hair loose (even when I had long hair),
4) Have multiple ear piercings, and
5) Wear ANY form of makeup.
So you see, what a weird poly student I am. :P The only things I take advantage now is that of wearing dangly earrings, not having to wear socks, and OF COURSE - listening to my music at any possible time. I've been soooooooooo used to it since the 'O' Level period, so thank goodness I can now walk around and wait between lectures just listening to my mp3s.
Seriously, I can't remember the time when I used to die of boredom on the way home because SHSS didn't allow handphones, and when I was hauled up for wearing a short skirt when it was only touching the top of my knee!!!
To hell with all those stupid rules. I can even sit on the tables in class happily now. Hmmph.
And now it's 2.43 p.m. Time to leave. Bye bye!!!

So...tired...
But...must...report...one...last...blog...for...the...week
*collapses*
Okay. I'll try to keep awake for this. Anyway I need to draw in a diagram for my FOM notes (just finished typing them out neatly - as opposed to what is sadly my handwriting).
Got to school in time as usual, and the first to the classroom as usual. :P CC as first class. Firstly the lecturer decided to move our Friday class to 8.30 instead of 8 so we have a slightly shorter day and slightly more sleep. I slept at 2.30 a.m. the previous night so I was really afraid I'd fall asleep halfway through.
CC wasn't boring enough to put me to sleep though. First we had to draw ourselves "back in secondary school", then ourselves "in SP now", followed by some item/symbol/animal that represents ourselves. (Well, this module isn't called Creative Communication for nothing!)
Then we had to talk about stuff that inspires us, followed by some pep talk of-sorts about using our creativity and imagination. I have no idea how the 2 hours passed so fast, but it did.
One hour break. Firstly I went to have a good stare at the FLLC noticeboard, the class lists having been posted for most courses. Apparently Thursday's class only has 18 people and my class has more, so I'll try to appeal to Thursday. Although now I'd rather have Tuesday. I don't care really. So long as I don't have to stick with Wednesday. :P
Lunch consisted of four deep-fried fishballs and a deep-fried spring roll. Other than that being seriously unhealthy, I was also happy because I finally got to have lunch all by myself. Well, sort of.
Yeah, I know. Like which idiot hopes to eat lunch on her own. But I'm just getting tired of going in a group everywhere. It's not only annoying, it's stifling. Besides, I want to do my own stuff, like listen to the radio. So immediately after I finished eating, I dashed off about two floors below my next classroom, where there was a bench hidden in an alcove along the corridor, which was empty. It was super warm there, but man, I haven't been this happy since I started school. I got to listen to the radio AND plan my OC presentation in peace. I was nearing the end of my planning when I realised I had completely lost track of time and had only 10 minutes to get to class.
Character Development...is like a more problematic version of CME. Problematic because we have to do 10 hours of community work (they LIED! The flag day form clearly stated 3 hours would be given to us, but we're not getting it...!!!), on top of reports and presentations and whatnot. Like argh. The lecturer's nice though. Actually all my lecturers are pretty nice - so far. Hmm.
We were let off from CD half an hour early, with a 2-hr break to follow. So I seized the chance to hurry home and empty my bag so I wouldn't need to lug all that heavy, useless stuff to Orchard after school. The "homecoming" went off without a hitch; I had enough time to eat some biscuits and read the papers, before leaving with at least 5 minutes to spare before the 2.15 p.m. bus arrived.
...except, it never did.
!!!
I was practically going nuts after 2.15 passed by and 2.25 came around. Finally gave up (even if 145 came at that time, I'd still be late) and hopped into the first taxi I spotted. The ride was waaaaaaaaaaay too long, not to mention I got mixed up so the driver had to detour round the back of SP to the main entrance. By the time the taxi finally drew to a stop, I was $7 poorer. $7! Add that to the $12 I paid for my second-hand ICP text before leaving, and I was pretty much broke. Not to mention I realised my usable $50 note was still on loan.
Never made my way to SB so fast before; was panting before I even attempted the final steep flight of stairs to the foyer. Got to MLT 9 with time to spare (at least 10 min early), but had to stay outside and wither in the heat because a lecture was going on inside.
My classmates appeared not long after. I got my ICP book from the class rep, then the lecture hall emptied out and we all shuffled in.
The lecture was...long. I lost track of how many times I checked my watch. There was a short break at 4 p.m. that helped ease the wait just a little. My notes were horrendously messy, and half the time I was too busy copying from the screen to pay attention to what the lecturer was saying. Marketing is so complicated. Or maybe everyone just loves to beat about the bush with it, so we never really get to the point. At any rate when the lecture let off (very slightly early), I could hardly wait to bound out of the place. Lecture halls are really too good places for sleeping...
Managed to avoid all my classmates and hurry all the way to the MRT. Got to Somerset slightly late and met YQ at Specialist's Centre. After that walked to Cineleisure for Pastamania dinner. Finally got to eat Bacon Aglio again. Next we spent some time browsing around Kinokuniya (couldn't decide which history book to get; decided to debate again another day), before going in search of Starbucks. We headed towards the outlet at Plaza Singapura, passing by Centrepoint on the way. Popped into Times to get a book, then continued on our way.
Thank goodness I had my jacket along with me this time round, which made drinking the Rhumba Frappuccino a lot more pleasant. :) Think I prefer Caramel though. The chocolate/cookie bits didn't agree with me.
Anyway, it was 9.30 p.m. by then and YQ wanted to catch her 10 o'clock show, so we left right after that, her for the MRT and I for the bus stop.

4 down, 1 to go.
Except that tomorrow is the longest day of the week (nine hours), I think everything is going fine and I'll be able to survive till dinnertime.
I think. Or in my own terms, "I thinky."
(digresses) Last night's MSN session with YQ:
YQ: Where is "Toa Payoh Central Amphitheatre"?
Me: You ask me? You thinky I know?
YQ: Yah I thinky you know.
Me: You thinky I live in Toa Payoh?
YQ: I go TPY so often...Also dunno such a place exists.
Me: And I don't even go there...so you thinky I know...Fine...
YQ: I thinky you live NEAR TPY.
Me: I thinky I DON'T.
ANYWAY. About today. Got to school only about 15 minutes earlier...quite a bad idea because I had no idea where my classroom was. Apparently from the 1st floor, overlooking the foyer, there are signs pointing to blocks T20 and T21...but not T22. So I randomly chose one of the corridors and headed to the nearest stairs. But the staircase only went up to the fourth floor, and my classroom was on the sixth. So finally, after peering out the nearest window/opening, I saw a block situated higher up on the hill behind, labelled T22.
"Great!" I exclaimed (since I was the only one around). Then I realised the blocks were connected by the Red Bridges! Haha. So I hurried across it. Halfway through I turned around and there was a guy right behind me. (Augh! Ghost!!! Haha.)
Got to the 6th floor; there were quite a few Business students waiting outside the stretch of lab doors. Reading the numbers above each door, I walked all the way to the last door. I was the first person in class (again!) and the room was locked. Ended up staring out in the distance - T22 is the last block in SB so I had an unblocked view of the adventure course-thingy and the stadium.
Gradually everyone started appearing. Well, mostly everyone. Then this lecturer appeared from the door right beside the classroom (a set of staircases I had missed - *slaps self*) and unlocked the door to our class, went in and switched on the air-con and everything.
I don't know why, but some of my classmates didn't think he was our FOM tutorial lecturer. So when he popped out again and asked us if we were coming in, we actually asked if he was our lecturer. I think he was pretty amused at that. Haha.
Anyway, all the waiting outside meant the air-con had time to cool the room down. We all settled down inside where the lecturer announced he was our class' PTN (can't remember what it stands for, but it's something like a form teacher). He had been overseas last week (when we were supposed to meet him during orientation), so of course we didn't know who he was. :P
The 3-hr tutorial started off with a lot of administrative stuff, whilst classmates kept streaming in. Then the real tutorial started. It's much easier to understand him than the stupid textbook, though that doesn't mean FOM is my favourite module. :P Haha. It's still too early to tell, but at least I don't particularly hate anything.
As with all tutorials in Week 1 (I shudder to think of full-length classes next week onwards...), we were let off early. One and a half hours, in fact. Factored with our one hour break, we now had 2.5 hrs to while away.
The class converged outside for quite a while, debating what to do. We asked the lecturer for recommendations, and he was like, "This school has six foodcourts and you're sick of them already?!" Haha. In the end (after he had long left), we decided to take buses to Bukit Timah to eat Roti Prata and play pool.
The bus outside SP took far too long to arrive. Then we had to transfer buses outside - of all places!!! - NP. And that took a really long time too. Finally we arrived at the place we were supposed to arrive at (haha), ordered, and thus followed a long wait for all eighteen of our orders.
...So as you may have guessed, that left us with no time to play pool after that. :P Plus we were all too lazy, so 16 of us decided to split up and get taxis back to school. The other 2 took the bus. My group was the second-last to get a taxi I think, but we were the first to arrive. Or at least, we were the first group at the first floor. Our cab fare cost exactly $5 and we made sure to direct the driver up to hill so we didn't need to climb it. Haha.
At this point we were like 15 min early for the next lecture, so we all trooped to the lecture hall to slack until the lecture actually started. (For the record, the other two classmates arrived quite late).
The powerpoint slides weren't hard to understand or anything, so I wasn't paying much attention. The food made me very sleepy. Not to mention the LT was partially dimmed, the seats were comfortable, the air-con was on...
...zzz...
I nearly fell asleep. Luckily the lecturer broke off from the slides not long after and let us do a self-assessment to find out our own communication styles.
Okay, I shall explain. There are four communication types, and a total of 80 questions, of which we choose between pairs of statements, which makes 40 statements in total. The statements are separated equally into the four different communication types, so the highest number of statements we tick that matches a particular type's statements, is our dominant communication type.
I got 11 for type 1, 10 for type 2, 3 for type 3, and 16 for type 4.
Guess which type is apparently best suited to my course.
Yup. 3.
And therefore, YQ, this is why I have no purpose being in DMC. :P
Haha.
All right. We were released soon after, with another one hour break till our last class.
Spent that hour 1) realising (through trial and error) that library computers need to be booked, 2) finding out exactly how boring the BizIT library is, 3) playing with one of the kiosks at school, 4) checking out all the vending machines on the first floor (there's an ice-cream vending machine!), 5) getting bored and heading up to class early.
Unsurprisingly, earliest again. Haha. The othes didn't take too long to arrive though, and since a class had just left our lab, the door was still unlocked so we all went in to surf the Internet. Then the lecturer came in and taught us how to add contacts to our SP mail system. Another very use-your-common-sense-and-you-won't-even-need-to-pay-attention-class, but hey, it's better than forcing yourself to focus on something profound at 3 p.m. in the afternoon.
The class was due to end at 5 p.m. but we were done at like 4.15. The lecturer didn't want to let us off early though :( so we continued with the planned exercise for our next lesson, and went off slightly before 5.

I am supposed to be reading my Fundamentals of Marketing (FOM) textbook right now, but allow me to slack. :P Anyway nobody's going to kill me if I don't finish the required (or is it only recommended?) reading by today; my next FOM lecture is on Friday (although the tutorial is tomorrow). And besides, I'm one of like two people in my class who have actually purchased the freaking-heavy-and-freaking-expensive book.
But since I'm trying to get a full First Week update (after this week I can happily ignore my blog, until something new comes up), I shall sacrifice some time. See, so kind of me. :P
My alarm clock rang at 7 a.m. and my sister burst into my room, announcing that she had cooked scrambled eggs for breakfast. Because of this unprecedented event, I was slightly delayed and missed the first bus, so I waited to go downstairs with her and catch the second bus (which actually gets me to school at a better time - not too early and not too late). While going out the door my sister decided to lend me her Adidas shoes (what is it with her and Adidas???)...so I ended up in clothes she gave me, carrying a bag she lent me, and also wearing shoes she lent me. :P
Anyway, got to SB with time to spare. Hesitated outside MLT 9 before finally entering, seeing the class seating plan on the screen, and scuttling to my row (I was the first one in my class there). Planned my OC presentation for next week briefly before the rest of the class started streaming in.
The FOM lecture, when it finally began, was more of a rules-setting class. Which was okay because it wasted a lot of time. Unlike ICP, the lecturer said he wouldn't give us notes so he encouraged us to buy the textbook instead. Then he went through some little details about marketing and why it is important, yada-yada, before time was up and he let us off.
Thus commenced a 2 hr break. Our class had originally wanted to play basketball, but it suddenly started raining while we were in the lecture theatre, so we went to FC 6 for the first time to eat. Not that I ate. Don't know how everyone manages to be so hungry at 10 a.m. in the morning! About an hour later most of the class left for who-knows-where, leaving the rest (including a very bored me) behind. Finally when they got up to go somewhere else and talk, I went with another girl to get the textbook.
We went to FC 5 first, where the Co-Op Shop we were supposed to buy the book from, was situated. But that shop only had photo-developing and photocopying services! We saw the book at Popular, but were directed to the Co-OP Shop at FC 3 to double-check instead.
Funny. We ate at FC 3 yesterday and didn't notice a shop! Anyway, found it quite easily. Went in...and realised they only sold stationery!!! Got redirected to Popular. Grr!!!
So okay, FINALLY bought my textbook for $38.50. Dragged it along with me back to the foyer of SB, in front of the Digital Media Studio.
We were waiting outside the DMS for soooooo long, dying to get in. And the lecturers were just standing behind the glass door! :P Then this group of secondary students were allowed in (for some school tour). So unfair. I mean, I'm a DMC student and they get to enter the place before me. *sniff*
1 p.m. eventually rolled around, and one of the lecturers pressed the unlock button from inside, thus allowing us in. Our lecturer for Desktop Publishing led us to the lab. I think it's the only lab in the studio. The place is ultra cool but also small, since only DMC students use it. The walls were mostly vibrant blue, and the lab contained only Macintosh computers, because...er, it's just well-known that designers in advertising agencies use Mac coms for their work. Or at least, that's one of the few things I learnt at Refine Printing. :P
We only used the computers today to log on to our accounts (this is a different database) and change our passwords. It took pretty long, though, because the computers had to process so many things and were constantly lagging.
Then our lecturer gave us a tour of the rest of the studio. We got to visit the filming studio, with the sophisticated cameras, teleprompters, blue screen, etc. So fun!!! And we were led to the sound room too, which is (of course) sound-proof, with double doors and double glass windows and foam walls. We're only going to use these two rooms next semester though, for some digital video applications thingy. :(
After that we had a more detailed briefing on what we were going to do for Desktop Publishing. You might already have guessed; it's very design-based. In fact we're getting sketchbooks and markers (complimentary of SP) for this module.
Ooooh. Design. This will be...interesting.
Anyway, the good news of the day was that instead of 3 p.m., we were released at 2!!! I was even happier because everyone had other plans so I could walk the whole way to the MRT by myself.
Okay, I'm not nuts. The company is all right at times, but you know...I prefer to hurry home, instead of strolling. :P
